Uneven-looking skin tone can raise several questions: which products are relevant, what sunscreen does and when a skin concern needs assessment. This guide explains a considered approach to ALASTIN skincare, with practical answers for Gold Coast readers.

Start with your skin, not a long shopping list
What do you notice, when did it begin and which products are you already using? These are more useful questions than assuming everyone needs the same collection of serums.
In my consultations, I consider skin sensitivity, the existing routine, previous procedures and the concern itself before discussing products. A curated routine is one you understand and can use appropriately; adding more active products is not automatically better.
If your skin is irritated, or a mark is new, changing or unexplained, appropriate assessment comes first. Cosmetic brightening skincare does not replace medical care or a skin check.
Why sunscreen is part of the conversation
Cancer Council recommends SPF50 or SPF50+, broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen alongside protective clothing, a hat, shade and sunglasses when sun protection is needed. Apply before going outdoors and reapply every two hours outdoors, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Follow the product directions and check the UV Index.
A brightening serum is not sunscreen. Sunscreen also does not block every bit of UV or replace the other sun-protection measures. Planning for reapplication is as important as remembering the first morning application.
Two ALASTIN products people often ask about
These are product-information summaries, not a recommendation that everyone should use both. Check the current directions and ingredient list for the product you buy.
A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum
ALASTIN describes A-LUMINATE as a serum for the appearance of unwanted discolouration and uneven-looking skin tone. The manufacturer’s directions include morning and evening use, with sunscreen following the morning application.
C-RADICAL Defense Antioxidant Serum
C-RADICAL is a vitamin C and antioxidant serum. ALASTIN describes it as supporting the appearance of skin texture, radiance and brown spots. Its directions include application after cleansing in the morning and evening, while avoiding the eyes.
A simple way to review your routine
- List the products you currently use and any irritation you notice.
- Clarify the main concern before adding a new product.
- Follow the current product directions and seek guidance about suitability or combining products.
- Use moisturiser as appropriate for your skin and sun protection as directed.
- Review your response rather than repeatedly adding products when you are unsure what is helping.
Results vary. If a product causes a reaction, do not assume that you need to continue using it to get a benefit. Stop and seek appropriate advice if symptoms persist or concern you.
Common skincare questions
Select a question to read the answer.
Can skincare completely remove pigmentation?
That should not be promised. The appearance of uneven tone can have different causes, and a product may have limited effect. Persistent or unexplained concerns may need clinical assessment.
What is the difference between A-LUMINATE and C-RADICAL?
A-LUMINATE is presented by ALASTIN as a targeted brightening serum for unwanted discolouration. C-RADICAL is a vitamin C and antioxidant serum with appearance-related texture and tone claims. Whether either, both or neither is appropriate depends on your skin and current routine.
Should I start both products together?
Not automatically. Discuss your skin sensitivity and current active products first. A simpler introduction can make it easier to recognise a reaction or understand how your skin responds. Follow the supplied directions and individual advice.
Is a morning sunscreen application enough for an outdoor day?
No. Reapplication is important. Cancer Council advises reapplying every two hours outdoors and after swimming, sweating or towel drying, alongside the other sun-protection measures.
Will a tinted sunscreen suit my skin better?
Tint, texture and ingredients vary between products. Consider the labelled SPF, broad-spectrum protection, how you apply it and whether you can reapply it comfortably. Ask for guidance if you have a specific skin concern rather than assuming every tinted product has the same benefits.
Can I ask for advice before buying?
Yes. Bring or describe your current products and the concern you would like explained. You do not need to purchase a full routine before arranging a consultation.
Browse products or ask for guidance
If you know what you are looking for, browse the online skincare shop. You can also read about skin quality and texture consultations if you would like an individual assessment. Product availability, formulation and directions can change, so check the current product page and packaging.
Would you like to discuss your own concerns?
A consultation is a chance to ask questions, understand suitable options and decide whether any care is right for you. There is no requirement to proceed with a procedure.
